A Housewarming Gift

I have always admired the way my mom's mind works when thinking of creative gifts. Not only are they useful, but usually they are packaged so cleverly. While I may not have quite the same flair, I'm really good at ripping off ideas! Years ago, after my brother moved into his own home, my mom made up a little housewarming gift for him  and I recently re-created it for a young man in our church that has moved into his own home.

All of these items came from Wal-Mart and I think the total was right around $30.

I bought a clear craft container with the moveable partitions and added various things that would be needed to make small clothing repairs. Four colors of thread (white, navy, black and brown), various colors and sizes of buttons, a selection of needles and a few needle threaders. Safety pins, a measuring tape, hot-iron cleaner, pins, scissors and iron patched in different colors and sizes.

Close the lid, put some ribbons on top and you're good to go!

What do y'all think? Did I miss anything?

I am slowly working on the Schooldays Coat - I cut out all the pieces yesterday!

Great gift! I don't think you've missed a thing. I should steal your thievery for my own son. ;-)

Great idea! That should really come in handy.

Great idea, perfect for "appropriating" :). I would add some stitch witchery - it's really handy for quick fixing hems.
