Debra Joyce.
I know, y'all are probably going, "What? Could she possibly pick out a more old-fashioned name?" But let me explain the reasoning behind her name.
I have a few requirements for a baby name:
- There must be at least 1 biblical name. Johnathan's name started that tradition. We have a Johnathan, a Julia Hannah, and a Rachael. Each of those is actually in the Bible.
- The names actually are in honor of the two strongest women that I know. My mother, Debra Ann. Barely 17 when I was born, she got her first job two days after my 1St. birthday as a telephone girl. When she retired 25 years later, she had worked herself way up into the company. All the while, I watched her deal with 3 husbands (including my daddy) that didn't know the meaning of fidelity. Then there is my MIL, Glenda Joyce. I've watched her over the last 18 years, as disappointments have come her way and still she had a smile upon her face at all times. She truly is an example of a lady that has the JOY of the Lord.
I really did want to have another little girl, but I was surprised at how disappointed I was that we weren't having the little boy that Cody has been hoping for so much. Isn't that funny?

Congrats! Both of our children have Biblical/Biblically related middle names. My daughter's is Shalom and my son's is Emmanuel. Their first names are either family names or of some significance to one of us as parents.
